About Space, constructions & orbitals
Series About Space explored the connection between personal space and adornment. Moving through the world, someone wearing this jewelry had to navigate and compromise: Could they hug someone? Put their hand in their pocket? Sit Down? Wear a coat? My curiosity lead my to wonder whether someone wore my jewelry or my jewelry wore the person and rendered them a pedestal. The pierced out spheres and half-circles inspired by music and crop circle lore, orbited, floated and bounced to the rhythmic movements of people wearing the jewelry. Some of the work relied on stretched out springs and stainless steel to create their bouncy. Others housed loose universal joints or cold connections that served to physically and visually activate the particular characteristic of each individual piece.
